Included Plug-ins

PowerCore delivers an array of powerful tools right out of the box; the fourteen virtual processors included feature the most complete collection of dynamics processing available.

24/7•C

Convincing vintage compression and limiting using one of the most desired vintage models for PowerCore!

24/7•C was inspired by one of the vintage processors synonymous with classic dynamics processing for mixing and mastering. This plug-In recreates the details of the sound and user interface of this hardware processor as closely as possible, delivering virtual vintage at its best.

The user interface is simple and straightforward: increasing the input will drive the limiter depending on the selected ratio. Even the famous 4-Button-mode was implemented. A special feature is an Auto-Gain sensing for the Output parameter that adjusts the output depending on the program material. Four stereo or up to six mono instances of 24/7•C run on just one of PowerCore’s DSPs, without taxing the CPU.

Character

The Character™ algorithm is based on a fundamentally different approach to audio processing. Conventional tools simply modify the frequency intensity or dynamic structure of the source material, without analyzing its contents prior to processing. This makes the audio processing with such tools a job for specialists, requiring a lot of engineering expertise in order to get the desired result. The Character™ technology overcomes this significant limitation and brings a truly intuitive approach, which offers instant gratification.

The latest scientific research in digital signal processing and psychoacoustics has led to the birth of this innovative effect. The Character™ algorithm is based on Noveltech's Intelligent Adaptive Filtering (IAF) technology. The processing affects both the frequency response and dynamic properties of the input material in a highly time varying sense. When processing an audio source, the Character™ algorithm intelligently identifies and enhances the characteristics that are pleasing to the human auditory system. One example of such characteristics is the time related attack and decay properties of the signal transients. The processing is non-linear and highly dependent on the source material's original content, aiming on enhancing the perceivably favored characteristics that derives from the original musical instrument or voice.

Basic audio processing tools such as EQs and compressors involve a large number of technical parameters, which have to be set to correct values in order to get the desired result. The Character™ intelligently enhances the relevant characteristics found in the source, working across a complex set of connected parameters, and not only boosting e.g. one specific frequency. This innovative approach allows users to get to the desired results much faster, as only three parameters need tweaking!

Chorus•Delay

Chorus•Delay provides the trademark TC Electronic chorus sound. It recreates the 1210 Spatial Expander with its unique modulation images like Chorus, Flanging and Slap Delay with very flexible routing and filtering facilities. Of course you can adjust the modulation speed in BPM.

ClassicVerb

The Classic Verb enhances the out-of-the-box reverb flexibility of PowerCore significantly! This processor adds the other category of warm, lush reverb effects often associated with big expensive hardware processors to the effects menu.

It is a whole different way to create the effect compared with the usual reverb philosophy, and the natural sounding reverbs provided by Mega Reverb.

DeNoise

DeNoise is optimized for broadband noise removal, from tape hiss to static environmental noise.

The Denoiser is fingerprint-based and its edit tools allow manual adjustment of the analyzed fingerprints for even more precise processing results.

The DeNoise plug-in has an 'auto' mode that makes it possible to remove noise from material where it is not possible to take a fingerprint - for instance if there are no parts with noise only. Fingerprints can now be adjusted independently for left and right channels.

Dynamic EQ

Dynamic EQ is a tool for any mixing or mastering situation. This virtual processor eliminates the shortcomings of static EQ by providing a dynamically applied equalization.

The Dynamic EQ plug-in offers up to four definable bands working either in static or dynamic mode, or in a mixture of both. Each of the bands can be configured as a parametric EQ or as a high or low shelving filter. The sidechain bands can be unlinked from the processing bands, so the high frequency content of a mix can control the low-end and vice versa. The pristine processing of this plug-in is all in 48-bit double precision, and may even be used in a phase linear mode, that is generous with transparent results.

EQSat

EQsat Custom is a very clean sounding and carefully crafted EQ-model for any application including mastering.

The processor provides 5 bands with 3 parametric ones and 2 additional shelving bands. The frequency response display gives instant feedback on the applied equalization curve. And what’s more, the unique saturation emulation can be activated to create that warm, analogue sound whenever desired.

Filtroid

With its dual filters and extensive modulation capabilities, Filtroid brings the sound of analog filter banks to PowerCore.

Filtroid consists of two filters with low-, hi- and band-pass shapes with 12, 18 or 24 db slope characteristics. The filters can be used in series or parallel for the utmost creative control, and the external side-chain input provision allows for modulation of the filter from another track.

Extensive modulation capabilities include independent LFOs per filter and an envelope follower. Tempo sync ensures that filter movements are always synchronized to the speed of the sequencer, and a distortion unit adds an additional edge to the sound, if desired.

With serial or parallel filter routing, massive modulation options, side chain input, resonance with self-oscillation, envelope follower, distortion and out of phase modulation, PowerCore users have all the tools they need to make the most extreme filter effects.

MasterX3

Knock out Punch for any mixes or masters. Period. MASTER X3 is the virtual incarnation of the TC Electronic Finalizer™, the standard mastering processor in the pro audio field.

MASTER X expedites the mastering process by integrating several phases of mastering into a single, easy to use interface. It features multiband processing with expansion, compression and limiting separately for each band. High quality uncorrelated dithering is included as well.

The intuitive user interface features many ideas to make the critical mastering process faster and easier. The overall processing characteristics are controlled via "Target Curves" that simplify the handling by providing a global processing style for all bands in all modules.

The interaction between the bands can be fine tuned by applying "Target Factors" which determine the frequency focus of each processing module, significantly reducing the number of required user parameters to set this complex process up. "Soft Clipping" even provides "analog" sound whenever desired.

MegaReverb

The unique algorithms are based on years of ongoing research and the core technology of the TC Electronic M5000 hi-end studio processor. With even better diffusion, denser tails and more realistic room impressions than ever before, MegaVerb provides the ultimate plug-in reverb solution for PowerCore.

PowerCore 01

PowerCore is an open platform with a lot of potential to grow even further – PowerCore 01 is the first taste of synthesis technology to come.

This mono-synth will deliver results similar to the famous SH-101, with some added features like velocity and drive. Punchy Bass lines, synthetic percussion sounds or synth-leads – PowerCore 01 can do it all!

Tubifex

Tubifex includes three tube stages and a speaker simulator for truly convincing amp modeling. Each of the three stages is based on a classic 12AX7 design and can be individually adjusted making the sonic possibilities virtually endless, from warm tones to screaming overdrive. The speaker simulator was derived directly from the impulse measurements of a 2 x 12 cabinet. Additional adjustments can be made with the virtual microphone placement control, which simulates the subtle tonal variations achieved with different mic techniques.

Tubifex also includes a fingerprint-based noise reduction filter that allows settings to be saved independently from the amp settings. An expander enables further improvement of the overall sound. As a ‘hybrid plug-in, Tubifex uses both native and PowerCore DSP resources. Combining the strengths of both worlds results in very low-latency processing, which enables guitar players to use Tubifex in real-time.

Vintage CL

Hi-quality compression and limiting on each channel is very hard to realize when limited to native processing only. Vintage CL delivers just that – up to 28 Vintage CLs can be run on one PowerCore card, or 7 per DSP.

In spite of this efficiency, Vintage CL employs a carefully crafted algorithm – emulating the behavior of industry-standard analog compression devices, best imagined as "dbx-style" to use a classic reference, delivering comparable results in the hardware world.

VoiceStrip

This complete voice processing channel includes all tools required for vocal sound adjustment: Compression, De-Essing, a dedicated Voice EQ, Lo Cut Filter and Gate.

Compression and EQ are modeled after classic hardware devices that deliver hi-end vintage tube sound, but naturally VoiceStrip can also be used for subtle processing.

All modules can be run simultaneously providing you with instant total recall for professional voice sound!

Optional Plug-ins

In addition to the included software that comes with PowerCore Express, PowerCore users may choose from the growing number of optional TC Electronic and 3rd party tools. Featuring renowned brands such as Sony Oxford, Access, Waldorf, Novation, Dsound, Noveltech, TC-Helicon and many more to come, the PowerCore platform gives you a wealth of professional 3rd party tools to choose from.

Assimilator

Learn the sound of your favorite mix and apply it to your own. This in short is what Assimilator does. Equalization is one of the more difficult tasks in recording, mixing and mastering especially when trying to match a certain sound. With Assimilator this process will be fast and instantaneous, 3 steps and you’re done! The UI provides two complete sets of curves and a morph page. On the morph page, you can morph between two complete curve sets by simply moving one fader.

The applications of this processor range from film sound to mastering and of course creative use!

The technology employed is based on Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT); 3 different resolutions allow you to adjust it to your needs in the highest one the process is so heavy it requires a full DSP! This would easily max out a modern CPU, just for one instance.

DSound VL2

The VL2 is an 8-channel virtual valve interface for mixing and mastering, adding the warmth and life of tube processing to any digital recordings.

This plug-In was developed by DSound as a direct result of the phenomenal growth in popularity of affordable hard disk recording systems, to fix the sometimes cold and clinical sound of digital recordings with its unobtrusive processing. The VL2 is an elegant solution with a simple interface and a superior audio quality.

The VL2 goes beyond the functionality of common valve interfaces by allowing you to control the amount of saturation with a single, finely tuned control. Each channel of the VL2 has unity gain – so levels are unaffected – but as each channel incorporates a valve stage, the audio signal benefits from the warmth of the finely modeled valve characteristics.

DVR2 Digital Vintage Reverb

The DVR2 Digital Vintage Reverb is another great professional reverb ported from the revered System 6000. It is available as a plug-in for ProTools and PowerCore.

TC Electronic has put much effort into preserving the qualities of the original processor, including sweet modulation, spectral balance, spaciousness and saturation. But not only is DVR2 the most precise EMT250 emulation up to now, it also emulates its predecessor in the way parameters interact for different settings. DVR2 comes with customizable presets, focus fields for tweaking and navigation, and a built-in preset converter allowing seamless import of DVR2 presets from System 6000.

With the DVR2 for ProTools and PowerCore, it is now possible to save processing power on the System 6000 for other tasks – the choice is yours.

The vintage reset function produces a sound very close to a well preserved EMT250, which is still a favorite on lead vocal in studios fortunate enough to own one. The high resolution parameters allow for lower noise, extension of bandwidth, and control of the amount of chorusing.

Harmony4

If you’ve dreamed of producing a hit song, you’ve surely thought about great harmonies.

Now think about arranging and stacking the perfect harmony parts long after the singer has done the main work and gone home. How about adding that one last high harmony part... during mixing! Maybe you could quadruple each of the three parts your singer did in three quick passes through the plug-in.

These are your options with Harmony4. With a choice of MIDI controlled and automatic control methods, anyone can take advantage of this way of working regardless of instrument skills. The sonic difference lies in TC-Helicon’s research and implementation of humanization features, the accuracy and speed of the patent-pending pitch detection and other great algorithms you’ll discover when you use Harmony4 on your next song.

Intonator HS

The Intonator HS (Hybrid Shifting) is a real-time pitch correction Plug-in that fixes intonation problems in vocals. This plug-in for the PowerCore platform utilizes the latest intonation correction technology found in TC-Helicons hardware products and delivers very natural sounding results.

Transparent and easy pitch correction, Hybrid Shifting algorithm for natural pitch shifting on large intervals and Vocal-trained pitch recognition algorithm for glitch-less shifting, is just some of the remarkable features that the this plug-in delivers.

This plug-in provides even more detailed access during the mastering process for CD and broadcast. It is optimized for 44.1 and 48 kHz processing and is also an ideal tool for optimizing material like commercials for broadcast applications; the 5 bands allow to get even more "level" out of the program material.

MD3 Stereo Mastering

The MD3 Stereo Mastering package brings processing only known from the System 6000 to ProTools and PowerCore. This package presents professional production and mastering possibilities to the realm of DAWs, and integrates smoothly with serious music and film editing applications.

The MD3 Stereo Mastering package for ProTools and PowerCore includes two pristine algorithms, MD3 Multiband Dynamics and BrickWall Limiter:

MD3 Multiband Dynamics
Dual Mono and Stereo dynamics processing in three frequency bands. By offering a true side-chain split structure, MD3 is also capable of demanding mono material compression/limiting on two separate channels, not found in other multi-band dynamics processors. MD3 can be regarded as a high-end mastering tool. M and S components of a stereo signal can be processed separately and provide even more control making full use of the Spectral Stereo Enhancer.

Brickwall Limiter
If you are concerned about audio quality at the end listener, or have a desire to conserve talent, the BrickWall Limiter is the solution. While it cannot prevent destruction of dynamic range from happening at earlier stages in the production process, it does get rid of the signals known to generate distortion in consumer CD players, radio processors and data reduction codes.

NonLin2 Stereo Effects Reverb

The NonLin2 Stereo Effects Reverb for ProTools and PowerCore is another world class reverb directly ported from the System 6000.

NonLin2 is an effect reverb, which differs from the traditional natural sounding TC reverbs. NonLin2 is capable of generating compact vocal ambience, percussive and dramatic drum sounds, reverse reverbs and “twisted” effects. Featuring an amplitude envelope that is capable of rendering an untriggered gated reverb and a 'twist' parameter, which can radically alter the sound, this plug-in delivers a serious advantage over other gated reverbs.

The easy-to-tailor and compact room-feel that this reverb adds to any lead vocal will set your mixes apart. As a producer or studio engineer, you'll be delighted by the creative power that this master tool delivers and it won't be long before you wonder how you coped without it.

Restoration Suite

Restoration Suite brings you all of the key-components required to restore vintage or otherwise damaged recordings, from broadband noise reduction to click or scratch removal.

Restoration Suite offers five real time plug-ins: DeScratch, DeNoise, DeClick, DeCrackle and DeThump.

Sony Oxford Dynamics

The Oxford Dynamics plug-in is modeled on the extremely flexible and capable unit used in the OXF-R3 professional mixing console. Resulting from many years research into professional dynamics applications, it offers separate Compress, Limit, Expand, Gate and side chain EQ functions, with full independent control of all parameters.

Features such as selectable time constant curves and variable soft compress functions allow the user to confidently tackle all common uses of compression, from subtle unobtrusive level control and mastering functions to the production of great artistic effects. The use of a feed-forward architecture with logarithmic side chain processing, making use of look-ahead techniques, ensures exemplary sonic characteristics and dynamic accuracy, with an artistic capability simply unavailable from other single units, analogue or digital.

This highly sophisticated and professional product has the power and flexibility to obviate the need for many of the separate applications most users keep for specific uses.

Dynamic signal level control has grown in complexity and popularity from humble beginnings to an essential part of the sound production process. Originally conceived as a method to automatically correct for performance variation and broadcast transmission limitations, dynamic control has evolved beyond this to engender whole artistic cultures and idioms, resulting from a continuous expansion of the artistic effects provided by such processes.

As a result of these trends, many diverse types of compression mechanisms have been developed over the decades aimed at a very wide range of uses and effects. By providing an unusually wide range of control along with multiple timing laws and operational subtlety, the Oxford Dynamics section can achieve impeccable results in the widest range of uses, from sensitive almost imperceptible dynamic compression on vocals and programs to instrument harmonic enhancement and dramatic artistic sound effect.

Sony Oxford EQs

Sony Oxford EQs deliver an unparalleled quality and flexibility with very musical results and extremely low noise and distortion, below -130 dB!

The EQ & Filters plug-in comprises out of 5 different sections including HF and LF selectable to shelf. Two additional HF and LF filters add to the power with variable slopes from 6 dB to 36 dB per octave. The models and technology of these plug-ins are based on the same as in the popular Sony Oxford consoles and Pro Tools plug-ins.

The package includes different plug-in versions for greater DSP-efficiency. If you are looking for the ultimate in EQ, this is your solution!

Sony Oxford Inflator

The Inflator is a unique process that can provide an increase in the apparent loudness of almost any program, without obvious loss of quality or audible reduction of dynamic range, yet avoiding damaging increases in the peak level of the signal. The inflator process can also bring power, presence and warmth to program material and even provide headroom overload margin above digital maximum with a subtlety and musical character reminiscent of tube systems.

No matter how limited, compressed and crushed your program already may be, the Inflator will provide even more loudness, it will even add volume to a full-scale white noise signal or add musicality to previously clipped signals!

The Inflator was developed in response to requests from mixing and mastering engineers who are required to compete on the basis of the overall apparent loudness of their final results.

Use the Inflator to produce louder mixes than you thought possible without overloads or compression pumping, or use it to add natural warmth and character to acoustic or jazz mixes.

Use it on single instruments to add presence, softness and depth, or use it on percussion and drum tracks to produce amazing dynamic presence, tightness and volume.

Sony Oxford Transient Modulator

The Sony Transient Modulator is an application that allows the dynamic level of signals to be modified by the transients in the program material over time. The effect is to bring transient events in the program forwards, or push them into the background, so that the attacks of instruments can be accentuated or softened depending on settings.

The application was developed to address the common situation where there is a need to selectively tighten up percussive instruments or soften the unwanted percussive effects of acoustic musical instruments. Such effects are easily achieved with the Transient Modulator because its purpose-designed adaptive processing acts on differential information in the program, so that the overall long-term program level is minimally affected and sensitivity to control parameters is drastically reduced.

TC Thirty

TC Thirty is a virtual model of a classic British Vox amplifier from 1961, providing the sound and behavior of the "normal channel" found on that amp.

A lot of users of the classic AC 30 amplifier have added a modification called a "treble booster" that was used to overdrive the tubes of the amp and create a singing, crunchy guitar sound. On the TC Thirty there is also a treble booster option, which was conceived with the classic sound of Queen's Brian May in mind. The resonance can be switched to different frequencies so that people who are using different guitars can still get close to "that sound" – and they can create their own unique sound as well.

The plug-in features the TC PowerCore "No Latency" mode that allows for playing TC Thirty in a live recording or performance situation. TC Thirty also offers an oversampling option for even better processing quality than in standard mode. Up to four standard mode instances of TC Thirty can run on one PowerCore FireWire DSP.

V-Station|PowerCore

The V-Station|PowerCore virtual analog synthesizer is built on the award winning K-Station from Novation. This awesome plug-in comes with three powerful oscillators providing all the classic waveforms, including a sine wave for those sub-bass floor-shaking grooves. Breath-taking liquid analog filters, 8-voice polyphony per instance, 6 simultaneous FX per instance and phatt sounds only found in a genuine Novation synth is just some of the great features included in the V-Station|PowerCore.

All the primary sound-shaping controls are readily available on the main screen and for serious tweaking there are three additional screens enabling a wealth of possibilities. An arpeggiator with programmable speed, synchronisation and sweep range is available within each instance enabling comprehensive synchronisation of time-based effects.

Last but not least, the V-Station PowerCore ships with 200 stunning factory sounds, covering a huge sonic range from searing leads to passionate pads, from delicate electric pianos to phatt funky bass. It’s all there...

Virus|PowerCore

Based on Access Music’s award-winning Virus Indigo hardware synthesizer, Virus|PowerCore offers sixteen voices with three main oscillators, two filters, three LFOs and two envelopes for every voice.

Virus|PowerCore is equipped with an extensive series of oscillators, LFOs, independent multimode filters and fast envelopes.

The FX section features chorus/flanger, phaser, saturation, distortion, analog boost and ring modulation. In addition, the global reverb/delay and the predelay time can be synched to the song's tempo.

A global vocoder with up to 32 bands, and the built-in arpeggiator add to the virtual synth’s feature set. Adaptive Control Smoothing allows super smooth parameter rides without any unwanted side effects, and an extensive modulation matrix makes it possible to create the most stunning sounds.

Virus|PowerCore can be used as a VST instrument for Windows or Mac, as well as an AudioUnit plug-in under Mac OSX. The actual synth engine is powered by PowerCore, saving the host's CPU for other tasks.

The sophisticated patch management gives you control over thousands of patches organized in automatically created hierarchical menus. The file format is the same Standard MIDI file used by the hardware synthesizers, and more than 4000 pre-programmed sounds are accessible from Access Music's web site.

The Base License enables one plug-in instance utilizing one DSP, and this will give you a 4 part multitimbral, 16 voice synthesizer.

With the Virus|PowerCore Unlimited License, a PowerCore with 4 DSPs allows for 64 voices of polyphony and 16-parts multi-timbrality. If you combine four 4 DSPs PowerCores, you'll have a 256 voice polyphonic and 64-part multi-timbral virtual analog synth and FX monster!!

The Unlimited License is an add-on to the Base License and can utilize a virtually unlimited amount of DSPs. The only limitation is your hardware and your imagination.

VoiceModeler

Create multiple voice personalities with TC-Helicon’s unique modeling technology. VoiceModeler can be subtle or extreme: Transform "male" into "Female" voices, enhance dull-sounding voices by adding breath or a "throaty" sound or go beyond by creating unheard-of effect voices.

TC-Helicon’s Voice Modeling algorithms allow you to manipulate the voice like you would any other digital instrument.

VSS3 Stereo Source Reverb

The VSS3 Stereo Source Reverb for ProTools and PowerCore is a genuine and original reverb directly ported from the System 6000. The VSS3 algorithm was researched and fine-tuned by TC engineers for over a year, resulting in an exceptionally precise tool. Similar to the chaotic response of a natural room, the VSS3 reacts differently to identical signals.

Used for effects purposes, extensive modulation possibilities are offered for the creation of detuned or chorused sustain effects for e.g. vocal, guitar, piano or horns.

Inherent in the VSS3 algorithm there are almost 800 parameters, equaling an astronomical amount of combinations, and this impressive set of parameters has been condensed to a very substantial and pertinent user interface.

With the VSS3 you get a package of presets that have in many cases become industry standards. The sound of VSS3 can be heard on thousands of albums and films.

Waldorf D-coder

Waldorf’s D-coder for PowerCore goes beyond classic Vocoder concepts by providing an integrated synthesizer as tone generator. This way no external carrier signal is required to make the vocoding effect audible. D-coder is based on DSP technology used in the popular Waldorf synthesizers, now made accessible to PowerCore users from inside any VST or Audio Units compatible sequencer.

D-coder has everything you need to create sophisticated vocoding effects, in one easy to use interface! The included polyphonic synthesizer, featuring that classic Waldorf sound, eliminates the need for external carriers. Need to fatten up the effect? Use the integrated Chorus unit. A 3-band EQ section rounds out the processing section, allowing you to emphasize critical speech frequencies, going way beyond what is possible with most other vocoders.

D-coder is fully VST 2.0 compatible, and can be played from a MIDI track or in real-time from a keyboard. D-coder is so flexible that the synthesizer section can be played independently of the vocoder section! If you are using a VST 2.0 compatible sequencer, all LFOs can follow MIDI sync, allowing you to independently modulate the synthesizer and the vocoder in musically relevant values such as “8 bars”.

With the included Carrier plug-in, you can also vocode audio without using the synthesizer section! Combine different audio tracks for unbelievable results.
