THE WORLD OF PRESETS AT YOUR FEET

GUITAR RIG KONTROL arrives with stylish black Rig Kontrol 3 for even greater synergy between player and software. With eight switches and a sturdy pedal, the real-time control of any parameter within GUITAR RIG 4 is no different than using pedal effects. Integrated into the Rig Kontrol 3 is a high-end audio interface featuring crystal-clear 192 kHz, 24 bit-quality analog-to-digital converters, meaning GUITAR RIG KONTROL sounds pristine, and yet is tough and robust enough to thrive in any studio or on any stage.

EASIER THAN EVER

The fully optimized user interface with its enhanced preset management makes GUITAR RIG KONTROL even more playable, intuitive, and convenient. Designed for stage use, the convenient and elegant 'Live View' displays the most essential assignments and parameters in an ultra-clear format gigging guitarists will appreciate.

RIG KONTROL 3 – Foot Controller with Built-in Audio/Midi Interface

The enhanced RIG KONTROL 3 with built-in audio/MIDI interface makes GUITAR RIG KONTROL an all-in-one solution for guitarists and bass players. Just plug & rock!

THE SUPERTOOL

Rig Kontrol 3 makes life wonderfully easy: The enhanced foot controller can be used to control nearly any sound parameter. It features a 192 kHz/24-bit USB 2.0 stereo audio interface and preamplifier for the fast and convenient connection of bass, guitar or any other instrument with your computer. Other than your computer you no longer need any additional hardware – just install the software, plug in Rig Kontrol 3 and your instrument and start playing. It's never been easier!

IMMEDIATE SOUND CONTROL

Rig Kontrol 3's continuous expression pedal and its nine switches are easily assignable to any parameter and afford complete real-time control of GUITAR RIG KONTROL EDITION. Should you need real-time access to more parameters additional controllers and pedals may be connected to the dedicated inputs as well as to the MIDI interface. Switch presets, turn effects on and off, use the pedal as a wahwah or volume pedal, all while keeping your fingers on the strings. The controller's data is transmitted via USB 2.0 – ensuring a much higher resolution and more precise control than via MIDI.

GET YOURSELF CONNECTED

- Guitar or bass are connected with standard instrument cables at one of Rig Kontrol 3's inputs.
- The controller is connected to the computer via USB 2.0.
- The stereo output of Rig Kontrol 3 is connected to the P.A., active speakers or your hifi system.
- Additional controllers can be connected via MIDI, two additional pedals to the dedicated input jacks.

DOULBE INPUT

Two inputs allow the use of two guitars or basses simultaneously. Monitor everything with the dedicated headphone socket without needing a P.A. Ideal for practicing and on the road!

CONTROLLER ASSIGNMENT

The GUITAR RIG KONTROL EDITION software allows fast, easy and convenient assignment of Rig Kontrol 3’s switches and pedal to software parameters and saves the assignments with the preset. If you wish, you can define a different controller assignment for every preset. The modulation matrix makes it possible to control multiple parameters with just one controller, e.g. control the delay time, delay feedback and delay wet/dry with one pedal movement! The snapshot function makes it possible to store different states of the same rack, this means you can change as many parameters of the current preset as you like with the push of one button. Imagine laying down different snapshots of one song for chorus, verse or bridge - with complete ease and efficiency…

RIG KONTROL 3 FEATURES:

14 SUPREME AMPS

The GUITAR RIG 4 PRO software offers 14 guitar and bass amplifiers, modeled with the exacting precision of NATIVE INSTRUMENTS’ award-winning Dynamic Tube Response Technology®. Including the original multi-channel designs and model-specific tweaking options, these amps not only accurately convey the character, charm and feel of their real-world counterparts, but also offer a huge arsenal of tried-and-true tones for all genres. The included Matched Cabinets module offers a harmonized speaker setup for every single amp.

1. PLEX: The classic Plexi sound probably needs no introduction - it's the vintage amp sound that has powered too many hit records to mention! Your ultimate classic for blues and rock.

2. HOT PLEX: Everyone loves the classic Plex sound, but wait until you hear this gain-spiced version of it! A generous amount of distortion will boost your vintage tones into the future.

3. LEAD 800: This smooth, intense lead sound cuts like a knife and offers plenty of flexibility. While the Plex works very well for both chunky rhythm sounds and leads, the Lead 800 gives a brighter, more edgy sound.

4. JUMP: The sound of the Jump is a well-behaved alternative to the Lead 800 – sporting a bit less gain, but at the same time perfecting the smooth, singing lead sounds everyone loves to hear from British amps.

5. AC BOX: The AC Box delivers the famous sound that powered the British conquest of pop music. Native Instruments chose a model that not only features a unique flavor but also some nice circuit wizardry adding a Brilliant channel!

6. CITRUS: If you’re yearning for that 70’s British sound with a bunch of flavor, the Citrus amp is for you! Its tones range from the edge of clean to gritty distortion when master and gain controls are cranked.

7. HIGH WHITE: Are you seeking the signature British sound of David Gilmour and Pete Townsend? Then you’ll want to spend some time with the High White – that’s 100 virtual watts of pure tone!

8. JAZZ AMP: The Jazz Amp produces a warm, clean tone. An essential part of its sound is the Ensemble effect, which adds chorusing or vibrato. As a result, the Ensemble is built into the Jazz Amp.

9. GRATIFIER: The Gratifier emulates a famous multi-channel solo head with a tube power amp. A fourth channel has been added to span the tonal range from clean to over-the-top distortion.

10. ULTRASONIC: You asked for an ultra-modern, ultra-high-gain, über-cool amp? Native Instruments present the Ultrasonic! A two-channel boutique amp with all the modern tones you could even want.

11. TWANG REVERB: The Twang Reverb simulates the rich tube sound of a classic amp from decades ago. It is ideal for screaming blues leads, crunchy rhythm guitar sounds, as well as clean sounds laden with personality.

12. TWEED DELIGHT: There’s nothing like the spank of an amp covered in tweed! This amp, based on an American legend, is designed to go from glassy clean, to bluesy squawk – with only three control knobs!

13. TWEEDMAN: The role model of the Tweedman was originally designed as a bass amp. Since then, it has made its way as a classic guitar amp. Of course, it still works equally great in its originally intended role.

14. BASS PRO: This monster bass amp delivers that gritty, growling sound that really makes a bass stand out in a mix. In addition to the unique tonal qualities, there’s also a graphic equalizer to allow the sound to be tailored more precisely.

FINE-TUNING

Along with the standard settings, each amplifier offers more sound-influencing "Expert Parameters", including power supply (50/60 Hz), "Variac" (reducing the supply voltage), "Response", as well as virtual "aging" of the tubes. Excellent sonic fine-tuning for real gear heads and sound fetishists!

CONTROL ROOM

The Control Room features 5 classic cabinets recorded with 8 legendary microphones, each perfectly in phase. They have been painstakingly positioned by studio legend Peter Weihe, delivering pure ear candy and endless facets of sound for you to mix.

The Control Room is a major leap forward in fusing the recording techniques of professional analog studios with the versatility and convenience of GUITAR RIG. This module opens a vast new world of tone with an unparalleled degree of natural sound reproduction and tonal clarity. With just a few fader moves you can create the sound of professional studio recordings that will definitely cut through the mix. This is how it works:

Imagine having the ultimate collection of seasoned, vintage cabinets...
...mic’d with up to 8 tried and tested, legendary microphones...
...every one of them meticulously positioned at the sweet spot of each individual speaker.
Now imagine being able to run those mics through your favorite choice of studio pre-amps...
...getting all these pristine signals perfectly tweaked and balanced with the finest possible gear...
...and having all of these dream setups simultaneously available on your mixing board...
...all in perfect phase alignment, so you can blend them to your liking, and create the ultimate guitar sound...
...that's what the Control Room module is all about: The fruits of decades of guitar recording experience - right at your fingertips!

EFFECTS

48 classic and modern guitar effects including time-based effects are at your disposal: Phaser, chorus, distortion, reverb, delay, wahwah, EQs, compressor, tremolo, octaver, rotator, limiter and noise gate.

The GUITAR RIG 4 PRO software boasts a vast array of meticulously modeled stomp boxes and effects which can be combined in any order or quantity you desire. Two distortion components, three delay units, four equalizers? No problem! You will find just about everything you need to get the tone you’re after.

Every single effect unit has been completely overhauled to provide you with the best imaginable sound quality. What's more, nearly all of GUITAR RIG's components can now be switched to true stereo. Whether you’re playing with two guitars, creating spacey effects in virtual rooms or just processing a stereo signal from your sequencer, true stereo is what you need, and what you get with GUITAR RIG 4.

NEW EFFECTS IN GUITAR RIG 4

The Grain Delay allows for a spacious refinement of your tones as well as massive walls of echoing sound. With the Grain Delay, it gets just as weird as you like - and yet perfectly controllable.

The Twin Delay combines two parallel delay modules to provide advanced stereo effects. It works like a charm for bouncing the sound from left to right in any imaginable way.

The Iceverb is a very colorful reverb that puts you in a giant icy cave – or in an igloo! It offers a wide range of hall characteristics and a filter that can even be used like a very special wahwah effect when controlled with a foot pedal.

The Octaverb is a powerful stereo reverb, precisely emulating the early acoustic reflections of eight different rooms. It also offers some unique features that can be used both for subtle tone shaping and for extreme effects.

DISTORTION AND OVERDRIVE

GUITAR RIG 4 provides you with eleven excellent fuzz, distortion and overdrive units. These components are accurate reproductions of classic hardware devices, and sound just like the originals:

- Cat: distortion pedal based on ProCo™ The Rat™
- Skreamer: warm overdrive, just perfect for rhythm guitar and smooth leads
- Distortion: whenever you need classic distortion...
- Big Fuzz: based on Electro Harmonix™ Big Muff™, this is the distortion of choice for some serious rock and roll
- Fuzz: based on Arbiter™ Fuzz Face™
- Sledge Hammer: based on Marshall™ Jackhammer™
- Mezone: delivers pure metal with pre and post controls
- Demon Distortion: based on MXR™ Dime Distortion™
- Trans Amp: this versatile distortion box set the stage for the later generation of digital wonderboxes
- Treble Booster: treble boosters were used by many pros to push their tube amps into crispy distortion.
- Gain Booster: for insane amounts of overdrive, to compensate for settings that reduce level, or simply to get your amp up to 11

TIME-BASED EFFECTS

Delays and reverbs are the bread and butter of every guitarist's arsenal, which is why Native Instruments took extra care to deliver the finest selection of virtual delays and reverbs available. Based on award winning NI algorithms, these units will go the distance on any setup.

Whether you want to warm up your sound with some spring reverb, or use complex tempo-synced delays, you’ll find your perfect treat in the Reverb and Delay Bank.

MODULATION EFFECTS

This section offers you a vast array of modulators that can be inserted anywhere in your rig: tremolos, flangers, phasers, octavers, rotating effects, chorus and ensemble, ring modulation, a pitch pedal and much more.

The perfectly modeled effects provide a number of options for making your sound more dynamic - whether a pulsating tremolo or a swirling 70's style phaser, or even producing wild synthesizer sounds.

FILTER EFFECTS

These effects serve a number of purposes, from sound and tone design to hum elimination, giving emphasis and adding character to an instrument, enhancing leads, rhythmical filter-effects and improving distortion.

Filtering is one of the most powerful ways to shape your sound, and GUITAR RIG 4 offers several great tools to do it. Choose from an impressive range of filter-based effects, from wahwah's to EQs.

VOLUME EFFECTS

Volume effects are capable of much more than just simple loudness control! You’ll find a range of tools to dynamically or interactively adjust levels - from Volume Pedal to Noise Gate, Limiter, and Compressor.

SPLITE MODULE

The Split Module allows you to create parallel (instead of serial) effects chains. This means you can process the split the sound and process it with different effects and then mix the results back together at the end. Serial, parallel, and mixed serial/parallel combinations offer a practically limitless range of possibilities for combining effects, for a truly original sound. The Split Module can be inserted anywhere in the rack.

CROSSOVER MIX

This device is similar to the Split Module - it splits the signal path into two. However, in this case, you can set a dividing line ("crossover point") in the frequency response, and send lower frequencies to one split and higher frequencies to the other split. With the Split Module you can, for example, create rich effect chains that only affect the high frequencies and mix with a more solid natural foundation of the sound.

MODIFIERS

Users of synthesizers know modifiers as "modulators". For the first time, this feature is available for guitars: GUITAR RIG's modifiers can automatically animate any sound parameter thus generating especially vivid sounds with a live feel. Strum a chord and use the modifier to add rhythmic filter or distortion effect while staying perfectly in sync – the possibilities are virtually endless!

1. LFO (low frequency oscillator) with five waveforms – for continuous or arbitrary modulation
2. Multi-step envelope – for "drawing" the sound progression (as in FM8, KONTAKT 3)
3. Step Sequencer - 16 on/off steps for "hard" triggering of sound parameters
4. Analog Sequencer - 16 adjustable steps for variable triggering of sound parameters
5. Input Level – an envelope follower scanning the volume of the input signal and transforming it into a control signal, e.g. the louder you play, the more distortion you get.

All modifiers can be assigned to any parameter, they can even control several parameters at once or be used in multiple instances in the rack – a paradise for sonic experiments.

CABINETS AND MICROPHONES

GUITAR RIG KONTROL offers a choice of 25 premium guitar and bass cabinets, complemented with nine fully adjustable professional microphones and four rotary speakers.

No amp setup is complete without a cabinet – it acts as a dynamic filter giving the amp’s tone its essential final touch. In GUITAR RIG 4, the potential is staggering: 23 premium guitar and bass cabinets, complemented by nine fully adjustable high-end microphones and four rotary speakers complete the ultimate guitar studio.

GUITAR RIG 4 now offers 3 ways to get perfectly mic'ed:

TAKE IT FROM A PRO

The Control Room features 5 classic cabinets picked up by 6-8 legendary microphones, each perfectly in phase! They have been painstakingly positioned by studio legend Peter Weihe, delivering pure ear candy and endless facets of sound for you to mix.

TRIED, TRUE & EASY

When adding any amp to your rack, it will automatically be provided with a Matched Cabinet, which creates a setup Native Instruments feels to be a good match. The Matched Cabinet module offers two different mic'ings possibilities that have been defined by sound specialists, as well as a harmonized speaker setup for every single amp. It's easy to use, yet super-flexible, providing you with classic sounds in seconds. You can blend between two different microphones with different characteristics and define the air level of the microphone. Customize your guitar sound within seconds without having to become a professional audio engineer!

GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY!

For the audio adventurer seeking to go beyond what is possible with analog gear, GUITAR RIG 4 PRO offers more sonic variety than ever before: The Cabinets & Mics module allows you to combine any cabinet type with any microphone and to tweak EQ, the position of the mic and the amount of "room" it picks up. Moreover, it allows you to set up parallel recording chains: Click on the small Add button to add as many independent signal paths as you like, with the same set of options and controls. This component models the standard guitar amp recording chain: cabinet, mic and mic position. ?Here you've got 17 guitar and 6 bass cabinets, nine microphones each with four to five mic positions at your disposal – all freely combinable.

PRESETS AND BROWSER

An enormous palette of production-ready presets offers instant access to countless styles, from 50s-90s rock to pop, metal, hard & heavy, from jazz to blues to country. What's more, a completely reworked, tag-based Preset Browser and a powerful search function make navigating through presets and managing them a joy.

GUITAR RIG 4 is fun right from the start! You don't have to tweak knobs or "cable" components together to find a perfect guitar sound: more than 250 presets, programmed by professional guitarists and bass players, offer instant tone satisfaction! Plus, you can download many more exclusive presets by famous GUITAR RIG 4 users on the Native Instruments downloads page.

MORE THAN 250 PRESETS

The enormous preset palette brings you an endless range of guitar and bass sounds and setups, from clean to crunch to hi-gain:

Every guitar and bass amp comes with a number of common and well-balanced setups to choose from. You can also choose your sounds sorted by popular genres from classic rock to pop and metal…

The options continue with presets that pay homage to legendary guitarists and famous studio productions.

In addition you'll find a bass bank with electric bass presets, an "experimental" FX bank, and presets designed for use with other instruments such as drums and synths.

OPTIMIZED SEARCH FUNCTION

Impossible with hardware amps and effects, not so with GUITAR RIG 4:

Save the components and settings in your virtual rack as a preset and recall the setup anytime in a matter of seconds. To keep better track of your presets you can save information with the preset name like style, author, sonic character, date and comments.

With the high-performance search function you can find any preset within seconds - and that's not all: Create as many banks and presets as you like, change the order so you can recall them in sequence with the foot controller, copy presets, and much more. Never before has working with guitar sounds been faster, simpler and more efficient. With GUITAR RIG 4, banks can be arranged in new main categories, to allow even more effective and intuitive sound management.

BUILD YOUR INDIVIDUAL RIG

GUITAR RIG KONTROL lets you create your dream setup within minutes: just drag and drop your desired amps, cabinets and effects and you're good to go. Hot-swap individual components and save “your” setting for any component, just drag it into place – readily configured.

SELECTING AMPS, CABINETS AND EFFECTS

In the left window, all available components (amps, effects, etc.) are clearly ordered in groups. You also get valuable information on the function and sonic character of each component.

DRAG AND DROP

Simply drag the components to the desired position in the rack and drop them in – and your setup is finished without having to patch any virtual wires! Of course you can change the order in which they appear in the rack or add and delete components.

COMPONENT TEMPLATES

Each individual component (for example a reverb) includes a selection of pre-made settings, delivering professional results immediately. Change the settings, save the changes as a component template in the effect, or keep the entire rack as a global preset. This way you can recall the entire setup again at a later date.

TOOLS

Two high-performance tapedecks with independent control over tempo and pitch make it easy to record sessions, practice riffs and sketch out song ideas. A looper tool allows you to record, layer, loop and playback riffs, licks, grooves and bass lines to accompany yourself on-the-fly.

LOOP MACHINE

The Loop Machine is another unrivaled feature of GUITAR RIG that you will not find in any comparable product. This efficient tool allows you to record, layer, loop and playback riffs, licks, grooves and bass lines enabling the creation of dense guitar and bass patterns or to accompany yourself on-the-fly. Loops can be synchronized to the tempo of your host application (sequencer) or to a metronome. Here's an example for practical use: First, you play four bars of rhythm guitar, after that you play a lead guitar, then some additional harmonies/chords and then some rhythmic slides, and so on. The loop duration is only limited by the size of your hard disc – theoretically you can layer loops for hours. A total of up to 99 phrases is possible!

Other powerful features:

- You can export the complete recording as well as every single individual layer - for using the best licks only or for re-arrangement in a sequencer for example.
- With Loop Machine's multiple undo feature poorly played licks can be erased. Additionally, you can layer a longer loop on top of a shorter one, an eight-bar solo guitar on top of a four-bar lick for example.
- Of course, the start and overdub buttons (and other parameters) can be controlled with the foot-controller – to keep your hands free for playing.

TAPEDECKS

GUITAR RIG 4 is ideal for sessions, practicing, and sketching song ideas! This is made possible through integrated, high-performance tapedecks with time stretching, pitch shifting and a convenient loop function.

Different uses for the tapedecks:

- Sketching song ideas: Simply record your guitar playing (as wav file) to the hard drive, so no idea gets forgotten.

- Accompany yourself: Play a few licks and riffs, loop a passage, and then play a solo over it!

- Play to loops and backings: Load a drum or instrument loop (for example guitar, bass, keyboard, complete play-along tracks, etc.) and play over that. You can even change the tempo and pitch independently of one another, which works great for pitching up a guitar lick while reducing its tempo at the same time! So you can get right to it, there’s a wide selection of play-along loops included (see below).

- Practice licks, phrases, and solos: With the integrated tapedecks you can do more than accompaniments: each loop can be played back faster or slower and pitched independently of tempo: load a difficult guitar solo and simply play it back slower (at the same pitch!) or put it in another key (with the same tempo!).

Tapedeck One allows for pitch correction of +/- 12 semi tones and independent tempo correction of +/- 50%. Play along your backing tracks in any pitch and tempo you desire!

Samples and Loops Included

You can play to accompaniments and drum loops right away, since GUITAR RIG 3 includes around 150 MB of sample loops for use in the tapedecks. The loops cover the categories "Backing Tracks", "Bass Loops", "Drum Loops", "Guitar Loops", "Keyboard Loops", "Synth Loops", and "Vocal Samples". Plus you can load and play back other loops in MP3, WAV, and AIFF format up to 16-bit resolution (for example sample CDs, etc).

TUNER

Get in tune quickly and accurately! Besides simple and precise tuning, the Tuner offers presets for common tunings, such as Chromatic, Bass, Open D / E / G / A, and DADGAD. Designed for maximum ease-of-use, a Cent mode and Strobe mode provide two different visual pointers, as well as a Mute mode for silent tuning when you don’t want to disturb your audience or band members. Additional features such as the reference pitch, tuning fork and transpose make this little helper an essential addition to GUITAR RIG 4.

METRONOME

The Metronome is not only for keeping yourself in time, but it also serves as the clock for all synchronized rack modules, such as modulation and delay effects. You can either dial in your tempo or use the Tap button and let Metronome determine the BPM. Easily adjustable and with numerous helpful features, Metronome is designed to help keep your playing tight.
