Garritan Personal Orchestra integrates seamlessly and automatically reads and interprets performance indications such as articulation marks, playing techniques, slurs and dynamics (including hairpins on sustained notes) to make full use of GPO's advanced sample programming, providing an exceptionally lifelike performance of your score. You can even export an audio file from the score. Personal Orchestra is Finale 2006 + enabled and there is also a Sibelius Edition of Personal Orchestra available.

In the studio, at home or on the road, Personal Orchestra is for every musician.
Build sections and ensembles any way you want from individual expressive instruments. Personal Orchestra is the first and only library to offer individual players rather than predetermined sections. If you want solos, duos, quartets, chamber groups, full symphony orchestra, divisi parts or separate lines - you have them.
All other sample libraries offer their sections with the instruments playing in unison where the size and sound of each section is fixed. And every time you play, say, a horn section patch comprising four horns, you get all four horns starting and stopping exactly the same way each time you play a particular note. This may be acceptable for those rare moments requiring a full tutti with that particular number of instruments playing in unison. But if your music requires one instrument per part or divisi parts, as is common in most orchestral music, you are out of luck. Assigning a four-player unison horn patch to four separate lines will not sound convincing, unless your music calls for the sound of 16 horns!
With the Garritan Personal Orchestra, you are no longer limited to section samples of a pre-determined size. For example, GPO provides eight distinct and separately programmed horn patches. You can create numerous combinations with these instruments, each capable of playing a separate part. Every combination will have a unique sound, offering you the utmost flexibility. This is the scheme we've employed throughout the library for brass, woodwinds and strings (although GPO does contain section samples in the large string sections). Each instrument has its own character and idiosyncrasies, with a lot of variation, vibrancy and expressive potential. And the instruments can interact with each other, similar to the way real players interact with one another. The sum is much more than its parts. The GPO Library is the most expensive collection of quality orchestral instruments ever sampled and when you have these individual instruments playing together, and each line is musical and expressive, the result can be breathtaking.
Personal Orchestra utilizes an intelligent yet simple control system so that most articulations can be played expressively in real-time with standard keyboard controllers. You simply use the keyboard controllers to 'shape' the articulations to craft a melodic line in a similar way a genuine player would. No need to hunt for samples or change articulations in midstream. This intuitive and standardized approach allows for quick composing and makes playing familiar and natural.
Using these controllers you can create the articulations you want on the fly. So, for example, if you want a spiccato then hit the key quick and light, if you want a surging crescendo then ride the Mod Wheel, for fluid legato lines engage the legato sustain, for portato you would use the mod wheel and pedal, and so on. You can instantaneously perform a variety of staccatos, tremolos, trills, sustains, legatos, portatos, a range of gentle to accented attacks, crescendos, portamentos, alternating bow strokes, tongued and slurred articulations for winds; and you can change between them on the fly. With little practice, you can do several things simultaneously as you play your articulations and you can hear the musical results while you're doing it.

EXPRESSIVE CONTROL - Creating Truly Expressive Performances
What makes an orchestra great is the complete dynamic contrasts it produces. Every phrase and even notes themselves have unwritten dynamics that are interpreted by the player. Without dynamics, music would be very monotonous, boring and lifeless. Indeed, it is the soul of music. The orchestra is unique because of the expressiveness of the instruments that can be produced. Garritan Personal Orchestra enables you to control the breadth of expression common to great orchestral performances. The Mod Wheel controls volume and provides dynamic and expressive control in Personal Orchestra. It simultaneously controls both Volume (ppp to fff) and Timbre (Brightness or EQ).
