Sibelius is a popular notation program designed to enable you to write, play back and publish music quickly and easily. Enter music using your mouse, MIDI keyboard or scanner, edit, transpose, playback and print a copy that everyone can read. Version 4 of Sibelius offers a number of features to make life easier for composers and teachers.
Dynamic Parts automatically creates parts when you create a score and dynamically links them. In the past you would have to "extract" your parts from the score, make changes, and print them out. If you then made changes to the score, you would have to re-extract the parts and redo all of your changes. With dynamic parts, any changes on the score are immediately made in the parts. More importantly, you can change markings in the parts without affecting the score.
Worksheet Creator is very useful for educators. With over 1700 worksheets, projects, exercises, songs, instrumental pieces, lyrics, posters, reference material and other resources, this will be a welcome time saver for any teacher! Many of the worksheets have random questions that are different each time and you can also print a completed answer sheet.
Probably the biggest hassle in writing music is dealing with creating readable parts from your score (especially if you are writing for wind players who don't like awkward page turns!) It isn't as bad as the hours of painful labor doing it the old fashioned way, but it still can be a real pain to re-extract the parts and redo the tweaks to the page layout each time you change the score. Sibelius 4 changes that by dynamically linking the parts and the score. This feature is perfectly executed, as you can still modify each individual part if you need to adjust the layout. However, the "Auto Layout" feature should cut down on the amount of changes required to parts. If you've extracted parts, you will know what a great time saver this feature will be.
