Question: Does this program record what you play? Can it write down what you play?

Answer: It does have what they call "Hard Disk Recording with Fifty Famous Feels". In other words, you can add your own playing to the songs that are already in the program. If you are interested in recording what you play, I would suggest Cakewalk'sGuitar Tracks or Guitar Studio. It does not have pitch to MIDI conversion - in other words it can't "listen" what you play and turn it into notation. Unfortunately, the only way to do that right now is to purchase a special attachment for your guitar that converts the signal to MIDI.
