Question: What are the differences between the student, educator, lab and network licenses for Essentials of Music Theory?
Answer: All Versions:
• Lessons include narration, animated examples and clickable elements for aural
reinforcement
• Exercises are randomized and provide reinforcement without duplicating
sequences
• Ear training is reinforced with the software version, as acoustically recorded
instruments (Rather than MIDI instrumentation) can be replayed
• Flexible testing options allow precise isolation of problem areas
• A full glossary includes definitions of all terms used in the program with
symbols, pronunciations, visual and aural examples
Student Version:
• Ideal for home use or small studio use (if the educator does not need to keep
scores in a grade-book format)
• Unlimited number of users
• Save scores to hard drive or disk
• Scores visible only by individual student with password entry
Educator Version:
• Ideal for small studio use (if the educator desires the ability to view all
student scores in a “grade book” format and track progress) or small classroom
use with less than five computers
• Tracks an unlimited number of users
• Save scores to hard drive or disk to be imported into Educator’s records
(grade book)
• Scores visible to individual student and educator with password entry
• Custom test generator
Lab Packages:
• Lab packages include one Educator Version and additional Student Versions
• Ideal for small computer lab setting when computers are not networked
• Educator version disk tracks an unlimited number of students
• Students save scores to disk so that Educator may import scores individually
Network Version:
• Ideal for large classroom or schools that have networked computer labs
• Unlimited number of users (standard version comes with 5, but an unlimited
number of additional users may be purchased)
• Allows the educator to set up classes or groups so that their grade book can
be separated by day, time, grade level, etc. (i.e. 7th grade class, Fifth Period
Class, etc.)
• Educator can change their password, manage groups/classes and designate a
specific folder for the students to save their scores in to make importing by
group quick and easy
• Educator can view scores by class list, import multiple scores at one time,
print individual and class score sheets, export student data as EMT data or as a
text file for other uses
• Educator can track student progress by the second to ensure students’ time is
being spent wisely and to see how much time a student has spent on any given
concept
• Customized tests allow compatibility with Scantron test sheets with
multiple-choice questions.
• Bookmark tracks student’s place in the program and allows them to pick up
where they last left off
