Sibelius Software to be Purchased by Avid
Avid, known as the owners of Digidesign, and more recently, M-Audio, has agreed to purchase Sibelius Software, according to sources. An upcoming announcement from Sibelius and/or Avid should provide the details, but it appears that Avid is adding to it's arsenal of music technology by acquiring one of the leading notation and music education software companies. We don't expect to see much changes, however, although there may eventually be some alignment between the various divisions of Avid. We've seen this with Pro Tools M-Powered, which took Digi's Pro Tools and adpated it for M-Audio soundcards.
