Sibelius Rock & Pop Collection
The Garritan Personal Orchestra, along with the upcoming Garritan Jazz & Big Band collection are the perfect tools for anyone wanting realistic playback of orchestral or jazz compositions. If your musical interests include rock and pop, then up until now there hasn't been an easy way to get great sounds. Sure, you could export your music to a MIDI file and import into a VST or DXI host sequencer to work with any of the great software samplers on the market, or you could invest time and money into Gigastudio, but neither of these options are fast or easy.
Sibelius has the solution with their new Sibelius Rock & Pop Collection. The collection includes samples from Sonic Implants and uses the Native Instruments Kontakt Player to integrate playback into Sibelius. It includes well-known instruments such as a Fender Stratocaster guitar and Rickenbacker bass, and multiple samples are provided for many of the instruments, with different styles and tones so you can get just the sound you're looking for.
Similar to Kontakt Player Gold, you will have a range of adjustable parameters - including reverb, brightness, tuning and other audio characteristics - so you can control the sound of each instrument individually. You can even export an audio file to create a CD of your music, or convert to an MP3 file.
Look for the Sibelius Rock & Pop Collection to be released in November for around $200 US.

Garritan Personal Orchestra Sibelius Edition
Sibelius recently announced a collaboration with Garritan to offer a special Garritan Personal Orchestra Notation Edition.
Most Sibelius users have probably already heard of Garritan's Personal Orchestra. If you haven't, request the downloads from our site to listen to the MP3 recordings made with the GPO - you will be amazed at how realistic the playback is!
One of the unique features of GPO is that it works with virtually any MIDI software, including Sibelius, Finale and other notation software. The original GPO includes Overture SE, light version of Geniesoft's Overture notation program. Garritan recently released a lower priced "GPO Notation Edition" for without Overture SE for users that already own a notation program.
So if the GPO works with virtually any notation program, why would they release a special edition for Sibelius? The new Sibelius Edition makes it much easier to take automatically use the various articulations found in the GPO samples. With the regular GPO, you have to use MIDI control messages to change between the different playing styles. Now with the new Sibelius Edition, the GPO will automatically use legato or stacatto samples based on the articulations you write on the score.
Expect to see GPO Sibelius Edition shipping in November for a little over $200 US.
