Photoscore Pro
Neuratron will soon be shipping Photoscore Pro 4, a major upgrade to their music scanning software.
With extensive scanning improvements, a new recognition engine and an overhaul of the editing process, the new version of Photoscore is definitely worth considering if you need to scan music into your computer. Photoscore 4 even adds the ability to save your score as a .wav or .aif for burning to CD and can auto-rotate PDF files.
The scanning improvements include a new automatic scanning feature that automatically choosing the best resolution, cropping, etc. It now automatically reads pages after scanning or opening files and you can down open and save TIFF files in Windows.
The recognition changes mean that Photoscore can now scan up to 4 voices per staff, will handle 1,2,3 and 5 line percussion satves and can even read appoggiaturas and cue-sized notes. Editing is much easier, and you can now edit virtually anything on the page without having to send it to Sibelius first. Personally, I will probably still only fix the rhythmic errors in Photoscore, and then do the rest of my editing in Sibelius, as I find it much easier to work with Sibelius.
